摘要

海明威的著作《老人与海》结构简单却意义深长。小说的主题—“一个人并不是生来就要被打败的，人可以被摧毁但绝不可以被打败”令人心神激荡且警示人心。《老人与海》向读者们深层次地剖析了主人公桑提亚哥的内心世界，高度赞扬了他失败后不屈不挠的永不言败的精神以及展望未来的希冀。由彼及身，我们不仅要从心底赞赏硬汉精神，更要以行动向其看齐。当今社会下，每个人在学习或者工作上都会或多或少地直面困难。硬汉形象可以帮助我们规范自身。在困境中，我们要有决不放弃的勇气。在斗争途中，我们要永保勇往直前的斗志和绝不认输的志气，一边忍受孤独的同时一边像个英雄般战斗。如果我们做到了，我们也能像主人公桑提亚哥一样战斗且不惧任何困难。在未来的学习和工作中，也能从容地克服困难并一直保持必胜的信心。

Abstract

  The Old Man and the Sea is simple in construction but exceedingly meaningful. The theme of the novel, a man is not for defeat, a man can be destroyed but not defeated, is inspiring. This novel represents Santiago’s inside and praises his unyielding, undefeated spirit after failure and everlasting hope for the future. One should not only appreciate the image of the Code Hero but also try to be a man like Code Hero. Especially in the present society, everyone may confront failure, from the study or from the work. What one learns from the Code Hero can help him conduct himself. One shall never give up hopes in any difficult conditions, keep daring spirit and never admit defeat in the process of fighting; thirdly, behave heroically in the actual battle; and last, endure the loneliness in the long process of the fighting. If one does that, one can behave like the old man, and no longer be afraid of any difficult things. In future studying and working, one will overcome difficult problems with the confidence of bounding to win.

1. Introduction
1.1 The introduction of Hemingway
    In 1899, Hemingway was born in a middle-class family in Oak Park, Illinois. His father was a successful physician with a relish for hunting and fishing. Influenced by his father, Hemingway loved the outdoors from childhood. His eye was wounded when playing the boxing in his childhood. His rebellious character made him run away from home and live alone to get rid of domestic constraint when he was young. He loved to take adventures. He went to Europe to take part in World War I. He joined a volunteer ambulance unit in France, from which gained transfer
to the Italian front, suffered serious injuries but survived. Tortured by cancer and multiple diseases, Hemingway committed suicide with his beloved shotgun. He is seen respectively as a sensitive and dedicated artist and as a hedonistic adventurer, as a literary poseur and as the stylistic genius of his age.
