Abstract

    The Merchant of Venice is one of Shakespeare’s widespread works. It profoundly reflects the victory of humanism, in which humanist thoughts and female images have been much concerned. In The Merchant of Venice, taking inherent passion brushwork, Shakespeare shows the real friendship and loyal love, especially portrays Portia a new female image successfully, who is beautiful, brave, resourceful and full of youthful vitality.
    This paper intends to analyze Portia’s marriage in The Merchant of Venice from feminism perspective. Basing on her sense of justice and compassion, this paper strives to depict her wits, makes her the most brilliant woman image in fighting for freedom, meanwhile it explores the origin cause under its background, so as to reveal Portia the new female image. Through this artistic image, this paper praises the man’s wisdom and strength, reflecting the awakening spirit of the new women in European Renaissance.
There are three parts in this paper. The first part is the introduction of the author and the novel, The Merchant of Venice. The second part introduces the meaning of feminism and analyses Portia’s marriage from feminism. The third part presents the significance of this research, that is, under the influence of feminism, what women are pursuing in life—the pursuit of free love and sincere friendship.

摘  要

 《威尼斯商人》是莎士比亚广为流传的作品之一，它深刻地反映了人文主义的胜利，其中人文主义思想和女性主义形象一直以来备受关注。在《威尼斯商人》中，莎士比亚以饱含激情的笔触，表现了纯真的友谊和忠贞的爱情，特别是成功地塑造了鲍西娅这个美丽、勇敢、足智多谋、充满青春活力的新女性形象。
 本文从女性主义角度入手，分析《威尼斯商人》中鲍西娅的婚姻。围绕她的正义感和同情心，本文着力刻画了她的才智，使之成为争取自由而斗争的女性形象中最为光彩夺目的佼佼者，并探析其时代背景下的成因，以便全面地揭示鲍西娅这一新女性形象。通过这个艺术形象，歌颂了女性的智慧与力量，反映了欧洲文艺复兴时期新女性觉醒的时代精神。
本论文共分为三个部分。第一部分简单介绍了作者及作品《威尼斯商人》；第二部分阐述女性主义的意义并从女性主义角度分析鲍西亚的婚姻；第三部分分析此研究的意义，在女性主义的影响下，女性对自由恋爱和真诚交友的追求。
