Abstract: Chinese wisecrack is an important part of Chinese culture which formed during the extended history of physical practice and mental cognition. It is widely used in our daily conversations and literature works. It is of great importance to have an overall understanding of Chinese wisecrack. This paper aims to analyze the meaning construction of it from the perspective of cross-domain mapping. It makes a literature review of the study of domain and cross-domain mapping, followed by a brief introduction of Chinese wisecrack. The author tries to classify different domains and takes some Chinese wisecracks as examples to analyze their meaning construction. It comes to a conclusion that the meaning of Chinese wisecrack can be obtained by mapping one domain onto another domain, which are both formed by experience we get from our mental and physical activities. It is hoped that this will help to better understand Chinese wisecrack and cross-domain mapping.

摘 要: 歇后语是中国传统文化的重要组成部分，是由劳动人民在长期的体力劳动和认知过程中形成的。歇后语在普遍使用于日常生活和文学作品之中。了解歇后语对于我们了解中国文化有重要的意义。本文旨在从跨域映射视角下研究歇后语意义构建，结合歇后语分析，对更好地理解歇后语的意义和跨域映射起到一定的参考作用。本文介绍了语域和跨域映射的研究并简要介绍了歇后语。通过对语域进行分类并对一些歇后语分析，研究跨映射视角下的歇后语意义构建。得出结论为歇后语的意义可以通过将人们从心理和实践活动中获得的经验通过不同域的映射来理解。

Chinese wisecrack is a common linguistic phenomenon as the essence and treasure of Chinese culture which formed during the extended history of physical practice and mental cognition. It is the collective wisdom of Chinese people which is widely used in our daily conversation, folklore and literature works. People find it is interesting, lively as well as difficult to understand since it carrying special connotations and rich implications. Metaphor, pun, and other figures of speech are largely used in Chinese wisecracks. Many scholars have studied it from the perspective of folklore, trying to define, explain and classify it. Few of them study it from the point of linguistics, let alone studying its meaning construction. Thus an analysis of its meaning construction can not only help have a profounder understanding of it, also be important to the translation and the interpretation of other notions. The author concludes three significances of this study.
