Abstract

     This paper is devoted to analyzing the female independent consciousness of Bathsheba in Far from the Madding Crowd. Many characteristics of Bathsheba in character, career, love and marriage embody her feminine consciousness. Bathsheba is a real female independence model for women in Victorian era and in modern times.  This paper consists of five parts. The first part is the introduction covering the introduction of Thomas Hardy and his novel, and structure of the paper. The second part is literature review. The third part analyzes the independence of Bathsheba’s characteristic, discusses Bathsheba’s success in career as a woman farm manager, and explores Bathsheba’s feminine consciousness in her love and marriage experiences. The fourth part discusses the causes and effect of Bathsheba’s female independent consciousness. The last part is the conclusion of the paper.

本文主要分析芭丝谢芭在《远离尘嚣》中女性独立意识的体现。芭丝谢芭的性格、事业、爱情和婚姻都体现了她的女性意识。与维多利亚时期传统的女性相比，芭丝谢芭是一个独立，智慧，大胆并有些叛逆的新女性。在男性主导的商业社会中，她把农场经营的非常好，她的智慧让她成为像男人一样成功的商业女性。在爱情和婚姻里，即使她在伯得伍德和奥克的驱动下，她还是坚持选择真正喜欢的人。从某种意义上说，芭丝谢芭是妇女在维多利亚时代和近代真正的女性独立模型。    本文共有五个部分，第一部分是引言，介绍哈代和小说《远离尘嚣》，以及论文的框架。第二部分是文学回顾。第三部首先分析芭丝谢芭性格上的独立性, 其次探讨了芭丝谢芭在作为成功的女农场主时所体现出来的独立的女性独立意识，然后还研究关于芭丝谢芭的爱情和婚姻独立性。第四部分讨论芭丝谢芭在维多利亚时代为什么会具备这些女性独立意识和芭丝谢芭的女性意识对当代及现代妇女的影响。最后一部分是本文的结论。
