Abstract
Harry Potter became popular around the world and scholars studied the phenomenon from various perspective. However, scholars were focus on the heroes and heroines, while they neglected the supporting roles. Few researches have done further studies on them to reveal their importance to maternal love. Narcissa Malfoy is a typical role of the opposite side. She supports justice for saving her family and the wizarding world. She is a character which the writer designed to express maternal love.
The paper analyzes Nacrissa Malfoy’s character by new criticism and studies her position changes and the effects to both her family and the novel’s development. It is proved that maternal love has huge power to inspire people be strong and to make the family and the society harmony.
