A Study of Chinese Translation of English Film Titles

摘要

随着文化和经济的快速发展，跨文化交流变得日益频繁。外国电影作为文化交流的一种方式在中国市场深受欢迎,在电影文化传播的过程中，电影片名起着举足轻重的作用。一个好的电影片名会吸引观众的眼球，电影片名的质量直接影响电影票房，因此英文电影片名的汉译研究十分必要。本论文旨在从英文电影汉译现状的角度，阐述电影片名汉译研究取得的成就与存在的问题，分析问题的成因，最后从英文电影汉译的策略和原则入手，就翻译环境混乱问题提出相对应的解决方法。本研究旨在提高读者对英文电影片名汉译的认识，了解电影文化在社会生活中的重要性。

Abstract

With the rapid development of culture and economy, international cultural exchanges have become increasingly frequent. Foreign films as a way of cultural exchange are very popular in Chinese market. During the process of film culture communication, film title plays a paramount role. A good film title will catch the eyes of audience. The quality of film titles will directly affect the box office. Therefore the study of Chinese translation of English film title is very necessary and urgent. This thesis aims to elaborate the achievements and problems of Chinese translation of English film title, analyze the origins, finally start with the strategies and principles of Chinese translation of English film title, put forward the solutions to solve the problems about the chaos of translation environment from the point of present situation of Chinese translation of English film title. The study aims to improve the readers’ understanding over Chinese translation of English film titles, know about the importance of film culture in social life.
