摘要

20世纪70 年代，西方翻译界出现了文化转向的现象。由此，翻译研究的焦点不再仅限于从语言层面，而是从此转移到文化层面上来了。在这个文化背景下，操控学派代表人物苏珊•巴斯奈特和安德烈•勒菲弗尔提出了操纵理论，他认为任何翻译是对原文的改写和操控。在文学翻译过程中，赞助人、意识形态和主流诗学是三个主要的操控因素。操纵理论的提出为从多维度分析译本提供了可行性。

王安忆对上海书写的代表作——《长恨歌》自从1996年出版以来就赢得了许多奖项，深受广大读者喜爱。这本小说的英译本于2008年由白睿文和陈毓贤合译，同样受到了国内外的广泛好评，众多学者从各种新颖的角度对其进行了研究。

本文以勒菲弗尔的操纵理论为基础，从翻译文本选择、翻译策略及方法两方面着手，分析操纵理论三要素对《长恨歌》英译本翻译过程中的影响。研究表明赞助人可以通过操纵经济因素来影响源文本的选择以及通过增补策略为小说加上副标题。意识形态和诗学则影响翻译措辞和语序等，以求适应西方读者的阅读习惯及认知。此外，通过对小说《长恨歌》英译本翻译的描写性研究，本文希望能丰富操纵理论在比较文学翻译研究中的应用，为汉英翻译实践提出更多可借鉴的方法和策略，进一步推动中国当代文学“走出去”。
