On the Subtitle Translation of the Culture-loaded Words in Mulan from the Perspective of the Functional Equivalence Theory_英语论文

摘要

文化负载词是具有特定民族文化内涵的词语，能够直接反映不同国家和民族文化的差异性。它是语言和文化相互结合的产物，体现了一个民族独有的语言和文化特色。随着国际交往的日益加快，做好文化负载词的翻译有利于人们了解异域文化，促进文化的交流与传播，从而达成跨文化交际。本文选取迪士尼影业发行的《花木兰》电影中的文化负载词为例，运用奈达的功能对等理论从生态文化、社会文化、物质文化、宗教文化和语言文化五个方面对文化负载词进行分析，旨在揭示其文化负载词的翻译策略，并进一步探讨如何在电影字幕中运用不同的翻译策略实现文化负载词的正确翻译，这对中国文化的走出去具有一定的实际意义。

Abstract

Culture-loaded words refer to words that have a specific national and cultural connotation, which can directly reflect the differences between different countries and cultures. It is the combination of language and culture, reflecting the unique language and cultural characteristics of a nation. With the increasing speed of international communication, the translation of culture-loaded words is beneficial for people to understand foreign cultures, promoting cultural exchanges and transmission, and thus achieving cross-cultural communication. Based on Nida's functional equivalence theory, this thesis makes an analysis of the culture-loaded words in Disney movie Mulan from five aspects: ecological culture, social culture, material culture, religious culture and language culture, hoping to present their translation strategies and discuss how to choose different translation strategies in film subtitles to achieve the appropriate translation of culture-loaded words, which has certain practical significance for the overseas promotion of Chinese culture.
