摘要 

本文旨在关联理论的视角下讨论文化负载项的中译。关联理论起源于上世纪八十年代，以语言在交际中的认知研究为主要内容，认为交际是一个“明示-推理”过程，每一个明示的交际行为都应设想为它本身具有最佳关联，即话语理解时付出有效的努力之后获得足够的语境效果。后来，关联理论引入翻译学发展为关联翻译理论，对翻译行为具有强大的解释力。关联理论指导下的英译研究屡见不鲜，而对文化中译的讨论相比之下少了很多，因此本文聚焦于英语写作的中国文化文本的翻译。 

林语堂是中国现代著名双语作家、学者、翻译家、语言学家，“两脚踏中西文化，一心评宇宙文章”是林语堂思想、文学创作和文学翻译生涯的写照。在跨文化交际中，他独树一帜地译介了大量中国优秀文学作品，并用英语进行创作描述中国故事。其中《苏东坡传》作为他为数不多的传记文学，不仅向西方读者刻画了一个兼诗人、文学家、政治家、思想家于一身的苏轼形象，展现中国古代社会经济文化面貌，其中译本也为中国罕见的传记文学画上浓墨重彩的一笔。

本文旨在以关联理论为框架，分析如何应用关联理论进行英译汉文本中文化负载项的翻译，并提供一些翻译策略，即省略、简化、解释、替代和句式转换。为此，本文将首先对文化负载项的翻译、林语堂作品翻译进行文献综述，并且考察文化负载项中译的特点。在关联理论指导下，通过对《苏东坡传》的两个中译本进行个例分析，深入探讨英译汉翻译过程中如何实现文化语境构建、推理-明示交际的传达和译者在翻译交际中的作用。
