A Study on the Language Characteristics and Translation of English Business Contract

摘要

随着经济全球化，各个国家的联系越来越紧密，国际贸易不断扩大，商务活动越来越频繁。我国经济发展主要靠出口。因此，外贸在我国的经济活动中发挥着重要作用。在对外贸易活动中，人们需要签署合同来维护他们的利益。英语商务合同是一个具有法律约束力的文件，它的语言非常复杂。对很多人来说，合同的翻译是一项艰巨的任务。人们在了解和翻译合同时常常遇到一些问题。如果不能完全理解合同，将会把合同翻译错误，这会导致公司名誉受损，遭受经济损失。为了帮助大家更好的理解合同，把它翻译正确，本文从词，短语，句子三个方面分析了英语商务合同的特点,并讨论了它的翻译技巧。

Abstract

Along with the world globalization, the connection among countries is close. And the expansion of the international trade and business activity becomes more frequent. Our economy mainly depends on export. Thus, foreign trade plays an important role in our economy activity. People need to draft a contract to protect their profits. English Business Contract is a legally binding document. Its language is very complicated. Translating a contract is a very difficult task for many people. People may face some problems when they understand and translate the contract. If not fully understanding the contract, people may make mistakes while translating, which may damage company’s fame and result in economic loss. In order to make people understand the contract better and translate it correctly, this paper is to discuss language characteristics and translation of English Business Contract from the aspects of lexical, phrasal and syntactic feature.
