摘 要
海明威,蜚声世界文坛的作家,以诠释“硬汉”精神著称;张爱玲,享誉华人世界的女作家,以细腻描述女性生活世界闻名。这两位写作风格截然不同的作家在文学上的相遇自然令人期待。因此,当张爱玲译的《老人与海》首次出版中文简体版时,立刻成为焦点。迄今为止,海明威发表的最后一部力作《老人与海》的中译本不下30余种。资深翻译家吴劳的译本是销量最大的译本。此文研究的是《老人与海》两种中译本的对比,同时,探讨张爱玲和吴劳在翻译过程中使用的翻译技巧。在撰写此文之前,笔者搜寻了大量文献并收集相关有用的信息用于撰写论文。本文主要采用了描述性研究方法来研究《老人与海》的两个中译本。最后,笔者得出结论:这两种译本各有所长,某些方面仍有所欠缺,所以仍需进一步研究和完善。

Abstract
Earnest Hemingway, as one of the most famous writers in the world, is well-known for his expression of spirit of tough man; Zhang Ailing, a famous female writer in Chinese circle, is famous for the fine description of female world. It has been looked forward to the literary encounter of the two writers who are totally different in their writing styles. Thus, it immediately became a focal point when the first Zhang Ailing’s version of The Old Man and the Sea was published in the mainland of China for the first time. Up to now, there have been more than thirty kinds of Chinese versions since The Old Man and the Sea, the last masterpiece of Earnest Hemingway, was issued. The Chinese version which was translated by Wu Lao, a senior translator, has been the best seller among them. This research is studying on the comparison of two different Chinese versions of The Old Man and the Sea and discussing Zhang Ailing and Wu Lao’s translation skills used in the translation. Before writing the thesis, the writer found a huge number of literature cite and collected a lot of useful information to help write the paper. This thesis mainly takes the descriptive approach to study the two translations of The Old Man and the Sea. At last, the author concludes that both of the two translations have their merits and demerits. More energy should be paid in the further study of The Old Man and the Sea.

1 Introduction
This paper concerns about the comparison of translation skills of Zhang Ailing and Wu Lao used in translating The Old Man and the Sea.
