摘  要

电影片名是电影的眼睛，因此片名翻译十分重要，电影片名的好坏对于电影票房的成功与否有着重要影响。所以电影片名翻译成功在影片中起着重要的作用。电影片名翻译的原则与策略对于大量优秀影片的引进与出口显得尤为重要。本篇论文从信息价值、文化价值、审美价值以及观众心理和影片商业价值角度入手总结了基本，切实可行的影片名称翻译原则。与此同时，诸如直译、意译、音译、影片名称的改译和翻译策略的综合应用也在文中一一列出并加以例证说明。

Abstract

Film titles play a vital role in the successful translation of films. Hence the principles and techniques applied in translation of film titles are of the great importance as more and more significant films are introduced into domestic and overseas markets. In the thesis, the author probes into the aspects of informative value, cultural value, aesthetic value and the principle of audience’s psychology and commercial value. Meanwhile, translation techniques like literal translation, free translation, transliteration, transformation of the film title translation and interpenetration of the translation techniques have been discussed as well.

1 Introduction

With various films being translated and introduced into different countries in the global age, film title translation principles and techniques are of great importance among cultural communications. Film title translation has been regarded as a kind of cross-cultural activity. “From the perspective of its genre and style, film title translation is included in the aspect of professional translation study.”(Jin Di, 1997) Meanwhile, He Yuemin (1997) has pointed out the problems in western film title translation and offered several means to solve the problems. On the basis of study, He Ying (2001) has put forward four basic film title translation criterions and some practical translation means. In the dissertation, the author by virtue of those references makes a study on various aspects with a view to summarize the basic principles and techniques in translation of film titles for the purpose to depict a clear picture in film title translation.
