Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: Vocabulary is the most active component in a language. This is reflected in the increase of neologisms with the appearance of such things as new objects, new phenomena, new ideas, new discoveries, new inventions and even new feelings in a society. On one hand, the increase of neologisms has enriches our language and culture. On the other hand, it has affected our communication with other countries. This thesis studies the translation of “Report on the Work of the Government”, the most authoritative and important source of information about the current situation in China, mainly research on the translation strategy and translation skills of neologisms, in an attempt to offer a reference for the translation of neologisms, reduce or even avoid the misinterpretation to achieve the accuracy of the translation of neologism.

摘要：词汇堪称语言中最活跃的部分，社会的飞速发展必然会带动反映这些发展的语汇的相应变化。新事物，新方法，新现象，新观念，新发现，新创造以至新感受都会产生新词语。这些层出不穷的新词新语，一方面丰富了我们的语言和文化，另一方面也给我们和世界各国的交往带来了一定的阻碍。本文以《政府工作报告》，这一权威信息来源的英译本为例，对汉语新词语的翻译策略与技巧进行研究，以期给新词的翻译提供参照作用，减少乃至避免误译，以便实现汉语文化中新词语的准确性。

1. Introduction
Vocabulary is the most active component in a language. This is reflected in the increase of neologisms with the appearance of such things as new objects, new phenomena, new ideas, new discoveries, new inventions and even new feelings in a society.On one hand, the increase of neologisms enriches our language and culture. On the other hand, it has affected our communication with other countries.
The annual “Report on the Work of the Government”(hereinafter referred to as RWG) delivered to the People’s Congress, reviewing the performance of the Chinese government during last year or the past five years and outlining the plans for the future development in the areas of future plans in politics, economy, education, culture and etc. certainly presents the most authoritative and important source of information about the current situation in China. Therefore, the translation plays an extremely important role in transmitting the information in RWG to the rest of the world.
