Abstract: A large number of loanwords are used in almost every aspect in our social life. Therefore, the study of loanwords has always been an important issue in translation studies. Loanwords’ survival and last in Chinese depends on the translation when they’re introduced. A translation can make us better understand these loanwords and better know about an alien culture. As we know, language is used for different communicative purposes, and occurs in a variety of communicative situations. Therefore, language is sensitive to context, which means the meanings and expressions of language are both influenced by context. The variation of the usages of language constitutes Register. As a result, Register Theory has a high guiding significance in translation especially translation in the cultural context. Translation and culture can never be split, and translation is a way to explain culture. As Nida puts：“For truly successful translating, biculturalism is even more important than bilingualism, since words only have meanings in terms of the cultures in which they function” (2001:82). So, this paper studies loanwords from the point of culture context. The author analyzes and compares the translation methods which provide us not only a new theoretical perspective, but also alternatives in translating practice.

摘要：目前大量的外来词存在于我们社会生活的方方面面。因此，外来词的研究已经成为翻译领域的一个重要课题，外来词能否在本土语中存活以及稳定下来，引入时的翻译方法显得十分重要。好的翻译能加强我们对外来词的理解和对他国文化的认知。正如我们所知，语言的发生是在各种不同的交流场景下为了各种不同的目的发生的。因此，语言对语境是极为敏感的。这就意味着语言的意义和表达都被语境影响着。这样许多的语言变体就构成了语域。所以，语域理论是最适合指导翻译研究的学科，尤其是其中的文化语境。翻译和文化向来是不可分的，翻译是对文化的解读途径之一。而且“对于真正成功的翻译来说，双文化能力比双语能力更重要”(Nida，2001：82)。因此，本文从语域理论中的文化语境对外来词的翻译方式加以分析、比较，则既可给外来词的研究提供新的理论视角，又可为外来词的翻译实践提供多种选择方式，有助于更好的文化交流与传播。
