Abstract:

The Book of Songs has a profound history in the world, which is notable by its nature of beauty. It praises the basic life of the common people, showing a vivid and beautiful picture. At the same time, from the aspect of its language, it is implicit, simple, condensed and elegant. Besides, and it has beauty in meaning, beauty in sound and beauty in form. As Prof. Xu's Three Beauties Principle is focused on beauty, it becomes an excellent principle to guide the translators to translate The Book of Songs. It is worth discussing. This Paper has conducted a specific argument about it.
The first Part is the brief account of The Book of Songs and its English version. The second chapter has made a specified narration and analysis about Three Beauties Principles, namely, the beauty in meaning, the beauty in sound and the beauty in form. The third chapter has made an analysis about the representation of three beauties in the version of Xu by specific examples.

《诗经》,一直以来在世界影响深远,其“美”的特质尤其显著。同时,从语言角度看,《诗经》语言高度含蓄,凝练,兼有意美,音美和形美。许渊冲提出的三美原则是译者翻译《诗经》的一个很好的理论依据,值得学习与推广。本论文对此从三章进行了详细论证。
第一章简述了《诗经》的特点及对其英文译本的研究。第二章是对三美原则的详细阐述。作者对三美原则的三个方面, 即意美, 音美和形关分别进行了理论是的详细论述。第三章则是结合实际案例, 即许渊冲的译文, 逐条分析“三美”在其中的体现。

Thus we can see that, The Book of Songs, which has a profound history in western world, is notable by its nature of beauty. It praises the basic life of the common people, showing a vivid and beautiful picture. At the same time, from the aspect of its language, it is implicit, simple, condensed and elegant. Besides, and it has beauty in meaning, beauty in sound and beauty in form. Therefore, how to convey the beauty in The Book of Songs is an important issue of the translation of The Book of Songs. As Prof. Xu's Three Beauties Principle is focused on beauty, it becomes an excellent principle to guide the translators to translate The Book of Songs. It is worth discussing.
