三美理论指导下宋词中叠词英译方法的研究_英语论文

On Translation Methods of Reduplicated Words in Song Poetry From the Perspective of Three Beauties Principle

摘要

由于中英政治、经济、文化、宗教信仰等多种因素的不同，把宋词翻译成英文并达到让目标读者感受到原诗的意美、形美和声美的表达效果，是件极具挑战的工作。宋词是中国几千年古典文化的珍贵遗产和积淀，以其独特的魅力在文学史上占有重要地位。它是一种音乐文学。为了增强宋词的魅力，中国古代词人在宋词创作中大量的使用了叠词来实现其音韵美。叠词是指一个词具有至少一个重复的音节。叠词能够传神的描写出人和物的音、形、情、态。叠词被广泛应用于宋词中不仅能使诗词读起来朗朗上口，听起来声声悦耳，还可以生动形象的传达诗人的情感。因此，在宋词翻译的过程中译者应该重视叠词的翻译。

许渊冲提出的三美原则，即意美、音美和形美，被广泛应用于诗歌翻译实践中，在宋词叠词的翻译上有重要的指导意义。本文从三美原则的角度研究宋词词中叠词英译的翻译方法。通过许渊冲的翻译实践，结合对具体诗句译本的深入细致的分析，探究了在三美原则指导的一些的翻译方法应用在宋词词中叠词英译的可行性以及三美原则在宋词词中叠词英译的重要指导作用。

Abstract

Since there are lots of different elements between Chinese and English, such as politics, economy, culture and religion, which make it a difficult job to transmit Song Poetry into English, and ensure that the target language readers can feel the beauty in sense, beauty in sound and beauty in form of the original. Song poetry is a precious heritage of thousands of years in Chinese classical culture and because of its unique charm, Song Poetry occupies an important position in the history of literature. Moreover, it is a kind of music literature. In order to enhance the charm of Song Poetry, the translator uses a large number of Reduplicated Words to achieve its beauty in sound of the original. Reduplicated Words means that there is at least one repeated syllables in a word. Reduplicated Words can vividly describe the sound, form and emotion of the people or the objects of the original. Using Reduplicated Words can not only make poetry read fluently and sound pleasing, but also present a vivid image of the poet's feelings. Therefore, in the translation of Song Poetry, the translator should pay more attention to the translation of Reduplicated Words of the original. 

Xu Yuanchong puts forward Three Beauties Principle including beauty in sense, beauty in sound and beauty in form, which is widely used in the practice of the poetry translation. And it has an important guidance in translation of Song Poetry. From the perspective of Three Beauties Principle, this thesis studies on some practical methods of translating Reduplicated Words in Song Poetry. Based on the Xu’s versions and some in-depth and detailed analysis of specific verse translation, the present thesis probes the feasibility and guiding significance of Three Beauties Principle used in the translation of Reduplicated Words in Song Poetry.
