摘　要

随着电影的全球化发展和观众需求的日益增加,电影字幕翻译越来越被人们重视。字幕是电影中不可或缺的一个元素，而通过归化来翻译，既能让观众在熟悉的文化氛围中感受更好的影片效果，也能促进不同文化间的交流。本文通过电影《功夫熊猫》的例子，结合归化在字幕汉译时的具体方法及运用，论述了归化对影片效果影响的重要性。第一部分介绍字幕翻译的背景及意义，第二部分主要阐述归化在电影字幕翻译中的运用，第三部分从归化的角度阐析了电影《功夫熊猫》中的字幕翻译，最后指出字幕翻译过程中选择正确翻译策略的必要性。对归化进行案例研究可使译者在字幕汉译时做出恰当的选用，使观众获得最大的影片观赏效果，可有助于不同国家间的交流，对此领域的研究起到推动跨文化交际的作用。

Abstract

With the global development of film and the growing demand of audience, people are paying more attention to film subtitle translation. Subtitle is an essential element in film. Through domesticating translation, it not only enables the audience to enjoy the better effect of film in a familiar cultural atmosphere, but also can promote the communication between different cultures. This thesis mainly discusses the importance of domestication to the effect of film by the case study of Kung Fu Panda, which combines the application of domesticating methods in translating subtitles from English to Chinese. Chapter one gives a brief introduction to the background of subtitle translation and the importance of subtitle translation. Chapter two focuses on the application of domestication in film subtitle translation. Chapter three is the body part to analyze the case study of subtitle translation in Kung Fu Panda from the perspective of domestication. The last chapter points out the necessity of choosing a proper translating strategy during the process of subtitle translation. The case study of domestication can help the translator to make an appropriate choice in translating subtitles, so that the audience will appreciate the maximum audio-visual effects of the film, and moreover it contributes to the communication between different nations, promoting the effect of inter-cultural communication on the study of this area as well.

1 Introduction
With the booming of modern economy and politics, cultural transmission and communication become increasingly important especially at the time of transformation from economic to cultural colonization. As a kind of important means of cultural transmission, film is developing rapidly today in the cultural globalization time. What’s more, the spreading and communicating of Chinese and foreign film works is speeding up due to the popularity of Internet. Thus, film subtitle translation studies come into being, which have a long history and have gained certain development in some foreign counties as well as in China. China has a long translation history and has formed its own system of translation theories. However, film translation is still a new area of translation. With the continuous development of film industry, films have played an significant role in enriching people’s cultural life. Moreover, they not only entertain the general public but also undertake a great mission to promote cultural communication and exchange between different cultures.
